Warm Welcome and Introduction
You’ll start by getting acquainted with your therapist. They will introduce themselves and help you feel comfortable in the space. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any initial questions or express any concerns you might have.

Discussion of Confidentiality
Your therapist will explain the confidentiality policies of the therapy practice, including the limits of confidentiality (e.g., mandatory reporting in cases of imminent harm). This is to ensure that you understand how your information will be protected and used.

Exploring Your Concerns
The session will involve discussing what brings you to therapy. You’ll talk about the issues or challenges you’re facing and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This helps the therapist understand your perspective and goals.

Gathering Background Information
The therapist may ask questions about your personal history, including any relevant medical, psychological, or social background. This helps them gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation and context.

Setting Goals
Together, you’ll discuss your goals for therapy. This involves identifying what you hope to accomplish and how you envision the therapy process unfolding. Setting clear goals helps in creating a focused and tailored treatment plan.
