Study abroad in Seville for the Spring ‘25 semester.

Experience life in the vibrant capital of Andalucia, Spain’s historic southern region, while enrolled in CSU/UC transferable California Community College courses. A legacy of thousands of years of history and diverse cultures, Seville boasts some of the most striking architecture, art and traditions and this city will become your classroom.

Program Includes

  • First night’s stay in a twin-bedded en-suite room at a local hotel, including breakfast.
  • Accommodation in a student residence (included) or homestays (for a $750 supplemental fee). Two students will share a double room. Apartments are fully furnished and include cooking facilities, free wireless Internet access and washing machine. Homestay students receive breakfast daily and dinner five days/week, plus weekly laundry service and wireless Internet access.
  • Orientation program in Seville consisting of a meeting with AIFS staff, information packet, cultural activities, a welcome dinner and a local area walking tour.
  • Half-day sightseeing tour of Seville by private bus and on foot with with the services of a professional, English-speaking guide.
  • Spanish Life and Culture Course including a weekly lecture with a guest speaker on a variety of topics such as Contemporary Spanish History, Spanish Politics, Education, Art, Architecture, and Customs and Traditions.
  • A two-day, one-night excursion to Granada and Cordoba. Round-trip transportation by private bus, one-nights’ accommodation in multi-bedded rooms in a tourist-class hotel in Granada with breakfast, a guided walking tour and guided tour of the Alhambra in Granada, and a guided walking tour including entrance to the Mezquita in Cordoba, with the services of an AIFS representative throughout.
  • A cultural calendar of free and subsidized events to help students make the most of their time in Seville. Events will include walking tours, cooking classes, guided museum visits, sporting events, and local seasonal activities.
  • Farewell group dinner.
  • Access to the wireless-enabled AIFS Student Center and the services of the AIFS Program Coordinator and Student Advisor for information, personal advising/counseling and 24-hour emergency contact service.
  • Medical insurance.

Program Costs

Based on an enrollment of 45 or more participants, the fee per person is $9,095.

This fee excludes:
  • airfare
  • optional insurance upgrades
  • passport or visa fees
  • meals other than those listed
  • personal expenses
  • any Citrus College tuition or administrative fees
  • textbooks
  • additional field trips or excursions required by the Citrus college faculty and anything not specified.

An optional Transportation Package is available, consisting of round-trip airfare between Los Angeles and Seville, and round- trip transfers overseas between the airport in Seville and student housing for an additional $tbc. Mandatory additional U.S. government- and airline-imposed departure taxes, fees and fuel surcharges of $tbc (subject to change) will be billed separately.
A 3-day, 2-night weekend excursion to Morocco, including round-trip transportation by bus and ferry, hotel accommodation in multi-bedded rooms in Tetouan, with daily breakfast, most lunches and dinners in Morocco (drinks and snacks for purchase), visits to Tetouan, Tangier, Chef-Chaouen, and Asilah, guided tours of the medinas, plazas and markets.

Scholarship Application Requirements

  1. Attach unofficial college transcript(s) indicating 12 units completed with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
  2. Must be currently attending a SCFC member college (listed below).
  3. Compose a statement of interest (750 words/1.5 pages) that addresses the following points. Include your name, home college, and email address.
    • Introduce yourself and your motivation for studying abroad on this program.
    • What motivates you to apply for this scholarship? Do you have a specific reason or goal for wanting to serve as an AIFS Ambassador?
    • Describe any related experiences, talents and abilities that may assist you in this task. What is your vision for the content you will create? What types of experiences, settings, etc. might you record?
    • How you will promote study abroad during your program and when you return to your home college (or after transfer).
Selection will be based on previous academic achievement and the strength of the statement.

*Participants who withdraw after November 27, 2024 but on or before the final payment deadline (Dec 27, 2024) may receive a refund for all fees paid less the $450 deposit and any non-refundable deposits paid by the participant or by AIFS on the participant’s behalf.

** There are no refunds for participants who withdraw after Dec 27, 2024. Enrolled participants who have not paid in full by this date are contractually responsible for the full program fee.
