The Heavy-duty Diesel program was a recipient of a 2011 Volvo truck donated by TEC Equipment of Riverside. The acquired equipment will help the program better its students in learning the latest technology that is needed by the local employers and the industry.

Gerald Chase, instructor of Electricity/ Electronics at San Bernardino Valley College, sure can run like the wind. At 81 years of age, Chase participated and earn a medaled in the 2017 National Seniors Games in Track and Field held in Birmingham, Alabama.
Celebrating 100, Pihl Shows No Sign of Slowing Down

Jane Pihl has lived an extraordinary life over the past 100 years. Pihl, who turned 100 on Aug. 30, lived in Baghdad and Peru as the wife of a doctor. She raised two daughters and then went back to college in her 50s in the United States.

When Alma Lopez was a student at San Bernardino Valley College, she received guidance and encouragement from English instructor Dolores Moreno and counselor Laura Gomez. Today, she works alongside them both as an English instructor and Co-Coordinator of the Puente program with colleague Elizabeth Banuelos, who is also a former student and mentee of the program.

What is My Generation, and how did you get involved? It's a youth-led campaign that pushes for cleaner air in the Inland Empire [the sprawling network of cities and suburbs east of Los Angeles]. The campaign is mostly made up of teenagers--high school and college students. I got involved my freshman year of college. I went to a meeting about the effects of air pollution in our area, and that's when a lot of things clicked in my head.

SBVC Faculty Featured in Inland Empire Museum of Art Exhibit

Two faculty members from San Bernardino Valley College recently displayed their work in the Inland Empire Museum of Art (IEMA). SBVC Art Department Chair Mandi Batalo and Ceramics Adjunct Professor Gina Lawson-Egana were two of only 43 artists featured in in the IEMA's exhibit Faces: Portraits from the Collection that ran through August 27th, 2017 at the museum's gallery in Upland.
