In partnership with SBCTA and select colleges along the Arrow corridor, Metrolink is providing free rides on the Arrow service for students currently enrolled at Cal State San Bernardino, San Bernardino Valley College, and the University of Redlands.

Students must request their free pass through their school. The pass is valid for travel on the Arrow service between the San Bernardino–Downtown Station and Redlands–University Station.

When riding, students are required to carry a valid fare and show a current Student ID upon request.

To qualify for free rides on the Arrow service, you must be a current student enrolled at one of the following colleges along the Arrow corridor:

  • Cal State San Bernardino
  • San Bernardino Valley College
  • University of Redlands

Students need to request their free pass directly from their school. The pass is valid for unlimited rides on the Arrow line between the San Bernardino–Downtown Station and the Redlands–University Station.

When riding, students must have their valid fare with them and be prepared to show a current Student ID if asked by a fare inspector.

Students must request their free Arrow service pass through their school representative. The pass will be delivered digitally through the Metrolink App, so be sure to download the app before making your request.

To receive your free student pass on the Arrow service:

  1. Download the Metrolink App.
  2. Register using your student email address.
  3. Request your free student pass from your school representative.

Once approved, your free student pass will appear in the Metrolink App. Before boarding, students must activate their pass and be ready to show both the active pass and a valid student ID during fare inspection.

The free student pass for the Arrow service is delivered as a Monthly Pass through the Metrolink mobile app.

  • Delivery: Once a student is approved by their school, a Monthly Pass is added to their mobile ticket wallet. After that, a new Monthly Pass is automatically added to the student’s account on the 25th of each month for the following month.
  • Coverage: The pass is valid for unlimited rides on the Arrow line between the San Bernardino–Downtown Station and the University–Redlands Station.
  • Activation: Students must activate the pass before boarding.
  • Verification: A valid Student ID must be presented if requested by a fare inspector.

As long as you remain enrolled at one of the participating schools, your free Monthly Pass will continue to be renewed automatically each month until the promotion ends.

No. All current students from a partnering school with a valid student ID qualify for the promotion.

All students are required to have a valid school ID in order to qualify for the free student pass. If you don’t currently have one, you’ll need to request a student ID from your school before you can ride with a free student pass.

This free student ride promotion is a grant-funded initiative in partnership with SBCTA. It is currently expected to run through June 30, 2026.

No. Current students of all ages from partnering schools are eligible for the program with a valid student ID.

At this time, the promotion is only available to current students enrolled at:

  • Cal State San Bernardino
  • University of Redlands

If you registered your Metrolink mobile account with your school email address, requested your pass through your school, and have not received your pass within five business days, please contact your school for assistance.

No. To qualify for the free student pass, you must register your Metrolink mobile app account using your school-issued email address. Personal email addresses cannot be used. If you’re unsure of your school email, please contact your school for assistance.

Yes. The free student pass is limited to:

  • Eligible Schools: Only current students from San Bernardino Valley College, Cal State San Bernardino, and the University of Redlands qualify.

At this time, the promotion is only available to students at San Bernardino Valley College, Cal State San Bernardino, and the University of Redlands. Additional schools are not currently part of the program.

Schools along the Arrow corridor may be considered for future participation based on program funding and partnership agreements with SBCTA and Metrolink. Students who are interested in having their school included should reach out to their school administration so the school can contact SBCTA or Metrolink to explore partnership opportunities.
