The Film, Television, and Media Department at San Bernardino Valley College is a leading center for the study and practice of film, broadcasting, and streaming in the Inland Empire. Since 1963, the department has provided students with hands-on training in both traditional and emerging media, offering access to state-of-the-art facilities and industry-standard equipment. Students work with cinema style camera systems such as Arri, Canon, and Sony, multi-track field audio, and professional software such as Pro Tools and DaVinci Resolve. Through our partnership with KVCR, students train in a fully equipped television and radio studio, and we remain dedicated to teaching film on film with our 35mm and Super 16mm cameras.

The department offers four associate degrees in Film, Television, and Audio, as well as a transfer degree in Film, Media, and Electronic Arts. Students can also choose from a range of certificate programs and specialized non-credit courses in areas like Steadicam operation, Grip and Lighting, and Producing. These programs are designed to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in both academic and professional settings.

Through the Institute of Media Arts, students gain access to career development resources, including portfolio building, résumé writing, networking workshops, and internship opportunities with industry partners across Southern California. These partnerships provide both paid and unpaid internships, with KVCR serving as our most prominent on-campus partner.

Graduates of the program go on to pursue advanced degrees at top-tier institutions such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC, CSUN, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State Los Angeles. Many also launch successful careers in the entertainment industry, securing positions with major companies such as Disney, The Food Network, PBS, Apple TV+, and Viacom. With a commitment to excellence in education, professional development, and industry collaboration, the Film, Television, and Media Department continues to prepare the next generation of filmmakers and media professionals.
